People have already started scrutinising Prince Harry’s dating with Meghan Markle before the couple made it official in the late of November of last year, and there were a lot of mistruths all over tabloids. The first time they met was actually on a blind date set up by a mutual friend, who’s identity remained unknown as the couple decided to do so in their first interview by the BBC.

The first date was set in July, back in 2016, and apparently the couple did not know too much about each other. Meghan may have known a bit or more of who Harry was, but Harry had no idea who she was, as he states in their BBC interview

No, I’d never, never even heard about her until this friend said “Meghan Markle.” I was like right, “OK, give me, give me a bit of background.”(Meghan Markle laughs). “Like what’s going on here?” So no, I’d never, I’d never watched “Suits,” I’d never heard of Meghan before. And I was beautifully surprised when I, when I walked into that room and saw her. As Meghan Markle was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, USA, she was not quite familiar with the members of the British royal family for a change. The only thing she wanted to know about Prince Harry was if he is kind, as she said

Well, is he nice? Cause if he wasn’t kind, it just didn’t seem like it would make sense.

And even without knowing too much about each other, apparently, they fell for each other since day one.

After their first date, they have met for a second one and from there on, things got exciting. Harry had to go to Botswana and asked her to come along. There they have camped alone and finally had the chance to grasp the idea of who they are and get to know more about their lives. What is more romantic than camping with the stars above with the one you fell in love?

The first five months

Therefore, at the beginning of their love story, they had the sweet privacy of not being quite yet in the eyes of the media for five or six months. But after that, people had started to ask questions and their dating surfaced on 31st of October 2016, as the Sunday Express receives an anonymous statement which confirmed the couple. This pinpoints the start of media’s attention focusing on their lives.

and according to People, Prince Harry has already introduced her by this point to his father, Prince Charles. We can only imagine how things got so interesting, that media has started to be incredibly focused on the scrutiny of their private life, even if they have fought to keep the privacy intact.

All of the guessing came to an end, once Prince Harry had published a statement on November 8th, 2016, in which is stated that

Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.

Along with these words, the statement is clearly describing the motives behind this public appearance, even if Harry has tried to keep her safe and untouched by the media, with which she was not quite familiar yet.

It appears as Meghan Markle was swiped under extreme scrutiny from the journalists and all, as they have tried to learn more about her life, even crossing the border as to trying to contact her ex. The statement can be read on the royal.uk website.

On November 26th, 2016, by following reports which believed that Prince William might disagree with the public statement, a follow up one came this time from his behalf stating that

The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him.

First time to be seen together

The first time to be seen together outside might be sometime mid November in Kensington while shopping, and it might appear that the couple has been staying at the Kensington Palace Nottingham Cottage.

And on December 14th, the couple was finally pictured holding hands after seeing The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime on London’s West End. The following days, they were even spotted choosing a Christmas tree.

While their first Christmas was approaching, everybody was wondering where would they be spending it. Would they go to Toronto, where the actress was shooting the series at that time, or were they heading to London? The latter was chosen.

Romance is alive

In January 2017, Prince Harry takes Meghan to a trip in Tromso, Norway, to see the Northern Lights after they spent New Year’s Eve together. Their romance begins to feel like a fairytale from this point, despite all the media harassment towards Markle previous life story.

Slowly and gradually, Meghan is introduced to the members of the royal family, this time being so with Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte.

On 7th of April 2017, Meghan shuts down her website The Tig, a lifestyle inspiration, by stating that while she is working for the Suits series, cannot any longer pursue the full time job her website has created for her. This clearly states the rumours which started to appear saying that the couple might be ready to tie the knot as she gives up her work. The world will still have to wait a bit for this to finally happen.

Harry’s date at the Pippa’s wedding reception

According to E! News, the couple spent their Easter in Toronto. And on 20th of May, while Pippa Middleton’s wedding was taking place, everybody started being curious whether the actress would be coming as Harry’s date or not. However, she was not present at the ceremony, only coming at the wedding’s reception, held at the Middletons estate in Bucklebury. Her absence at the ceremony was due to royal protocols.

Prior to this, the couple was first seen publicly kissing at the annual Audi Polo Challenge in Ascot, England, where Meghan had the chance to act as his cheerleader.

Jewelry, but not the one yet

In June, a ring appeared on the thumb of the actress, along with the previously received “a blue and white bracelet (which matches his own), a Cartier Love bracelet, a Maya Brenner necklace with the initials “M” and “H,” and a gold arrow ring”, according to Cosmopolitan Magazine. It might seem the ring was big even for the thumb, being quite a cute mistake.

The M and H necklace has started a string of gossips all over tabloids, but Meghan has boldly and silently stated her relationship in a fashionable way. The necklace is a 14k gold necklace, designed by California-born jewelry designer Maya Brenner, as the People magazine finds out.

On 23rd of August, they embarked on a trip back to Botswana, for her 36th birthday celebration. It might seem that Botswana has a special connection with the Prince, as he says the country is

where I feel like myself than anywhere else in the world,

and the month of August is the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. It is well known the connection he had with her beloved mother.

The Engagement

The happy news came on 27th of last November, when Prince Charles finally announces the engagement of Harry and Meghan, stating that they will wed on 19th May, Spring 2018. In their interview with the BBC, Harry proposed in a intimate and personal space and time. Meghan states that

it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.

Since then, the couple has made numerous public appearances and their love story has become more public than ever. Many details have been cleared out and it may seem that from here on media will be all over the place around them.

Many royal protocols have been neglected, but it looks like the world is ready for a more down to earth feeling when it comes to royal family. Along with this, Meghan Markle is now ready to become a royal member.

Following their engagement, Prince Harry and Markle posed for photos at the Kensington Palace, while we got a glimpse at the ring. Regarding the latter, Harry states that

The ring is – is obviously yellow gold because that’s what – her favorite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the – the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this – on this crazy journey together. And …

he even designed it himself, as Meghan reveals.

As the couple made it even more official, they marked their engagement with the above official photo. Aren’t they just perfect for each other?

After their engagement

On 20th of December last year, Meghan takes part with the member of the royal family at the annual Christmas lunch at the Buckingham Palace. Her outfit was royal fit and we couldn’t be more happy for her.

Regarding the aforementioned neglected royal protocols, Meghan attends the Christmas services with Harry’s family, despite the tradition, at the Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

From here on, it is just a love story.

I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness is – and the inclusion of that and obviously not being able to meet his mom it’s so important to me to – to know that she’s a part of this with us. And I think in being able to meet his aunts and – and also like Julia and just different people who were so important to his mom, I’m able to, in some way, know a part of her through them and of course through him.
